Her career in journalism began with Myrtle Beach South Carolina as an anchor and news reporter for WPDE-TV. Then she became an anchor in the morning and a reporter for WCBD TV. O'Dell's reporting on the lax police response towards DUI instances in Charleston resulted in an investigation conducted by the State Law Enforcement Division, that led to a revised direction from the state authorities on DUI cases. Ms. O'Dell received the Best Report of the Media Award South Carolina by the Associated Press. O'Dell later worked at the Miami-based station of NBC WTVJ-TV as a investigative reporter and anchor, prior to her joining Access Hollywood in the role of co-anchor for the weekend. Her current position as host of Access Hollywood is complemented by her work on NBC News Today, Dateline NBC as well as NBC News.
